Public Remarks: If you are looking for serious architecture, look no further than this important, mid-century modern icon. The Lu Andrews Residence has original terrazzo floors, clerestory windows, skylights, built-in furnishings, fireplace and sliding glass walls. A large screened porch visually extends the living room out into a lush tropical setting with pond. Designed by architect Ken Warriner for Ralph Twitchell, the Lu Andrews Residence is considered one of the very best examples of the Sarasota School of Architecture, and is affectionately known as "the jewel box" for the way light continually changes and re-defines the structure. The home has been featured in numerous international articles, (Metropolitan Home, etc.) and books (Sarasota Modern and The Sarasota School of Architecture, etc.) The location is "west of trail" and prized for its close proximity to downtown Sarasota, the bay front, parks, marina, restaurants, galleries, beaches, St. Armands Circle and the Ringling College of Art and Design. Floor Plan, 2006 Roof Permit and 1998 Survey are available for review. There are no HOA fees. All furniture stays with the house, except glass top Noguchi table, personal items and canoe.
